Tennessee @ Kentucky 9-24-2023 WVB

Dear Readers~

Welcome back to another volleyball blog! The last time I covered a Tennessee game they played #1 Wisconsin up north in Madison so if you'd like to see how that game went, don't forget to check that blog out after this one. This time I'll be covering the game between the Tennessee Lady Vols and the Kentucky Lady Wildcats that took place on Sunday, September 24th at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. Going into the game, Tennessee had a 5-game win streak while Kentucky was 1-1 at home. Can Tennessee make it a 6-game win streak, or will Kentucky make it 2-1 at home? Keep reading to find out.

Let's start with how each set ended shall we? The first set ended at a very close 25-23 in favor of Tennessee. The second set ended at 25-18 in favor of Tennessee yet again. The third set was just as rough for the Lady Wildcats as it ended at 25-18 yet again in favor of Tennessee. The game ended with Tennessee's 3 sets to Kentucky's none. This gave Tennessee their sixth straight win and a current record of 11-1 and gave Kentucky an at home record of 1-2 as well as an overall record of 3-7.

Now it's time to look at some of the top performers of the game. Starting off with Kills we have the top 3 athletes all playing for Tennessee and they are Morgahn Fingall, with 17, and Jenaisya Moore and Erykah Lovett, each with 12. Kentucky's leaders were Elise Goetzinger and Megan Wilson, each with 8, and Azhani Tealer, with 6. The leader in Aces goes to Kentucky's Molly Tuozzo, with 2and also Kentucky's only aces, while Morgahn Fingall and Abby Ekeler had Tennessee's only aces with 1 ace each. Next up is the leader in Blocks which goes to Tennessee's Emily Beeker, with 6, while Jordyn Williams led Kentucky with 4. The leader in Assists goes to Tennessee's Caroline Kerr, with 44, while Emma Grome had 33 assists for Kentucky, the only athlete on her team to have any assists. The leader in Digs goes to Kentucky's Eleanor Beavin, with 18, while Yelianiz Torres and Erykah Lovett each had 13 digs for Tennessee.

Their next match up is set for Sunday, October 15th at the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. If you don't want to wait a few more weeks, don't worry because each team has a game not too far away from now. Tennessee's next game is Wednesday, October 4th at 8pm EST as they head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to play Alabama. Kentucky has their next match on Friday, October 6th at 7:30pm CST as they head to Columbia, Missouri to play Missouri.
