Wisconsin vs Oregon 12-9-2023 WVB Regionals Day 2

    Welcome back! This blog will cover Day 2 of the 2023 NCAA Regional game between Wisconsin and Oregon. Just to make it to this game, Wisconsin played Penn State and won 3-1 while Oregon played Purdue and won 3-0 for the Day 1 games. This Day 2 game took place on Saturday, December 9th at 7pm CT in Madison, Wisconsin. Now let's get into this game to see who will win and move on to the National Semifinals.

    As for the game leaders, we'll start with kills. The leader in Kills goes to Wisconsin's Sarah Franklin and Oregon's Mimi Colyer, each with 20, while second highest was Wisconsin's Temi Thomas-Ailara and Oregon's Morgan Lewis, each with 11. The next highest was Wisconsin's Anna Smrek, with 10, while Oregon's Hannah Pukis had the next highest with 9. The leader in Aces goes to Oregon's Elise Ferreira and Daley McClellan, each with 2, while Oregon's Hannah Pukis along with Wisconsin's Izzy Ashburn, MJ Hammill, and Sarah Franklin all had 1 ace each. The leader in Blocks goes to Wisconsin's Carter Booth, with 9, followed by CC Crawford and Anna Smrek, each with 7, while Oregon's leaders include Karson Bacon, with 3, and Hannah Pukis and Kara McGhee, each with 2. The leader in Assists are Oregon's Hannah Pukis, with 49, while Wisconsin was led by MJ Hammill, with 26 followed shortly by her teammate Izzy Ashburn, with 23. The leaders in Digs goes to Wisconsin's Gulce Guctekin, with 17, and her teammate Julia Orzol, with 16, followed shortly by Oregon's Georgia Murphy, with 15, then here teammates Hannah Pukis and Daley McClellan, each with 13, followed by Wisconsin's Sarah Franklin, with 11.

    Now to see how the game ended. The first set ended at 25-22 in favor of Wisconsin. The second set ended the same way at 25-22 and in favor of Wisconsin yet again. Going into the third set, Oregon was determined not to lose in three straight sets since it's now the point in the season where if you lose one game your season is over. The third set ended at 27-25 in favor of Oregon and keeping Oregon's hopes alive for one more set. The fourth set ended with the biggest gap at 25-18 in favor of Wisconsin and ending Oregon's 2023 season with Wisconsin winning 3 sets to Oregon's 1. At the end of the game, Wisconsin led in points, 79-75, and blocks, 16-4, while Oregon led in kills, 64-59, aces, 7-4, assists, 60-57, and digs, 73-70.



Wisconsin and Oregon had no photos posted on their Instagrams for game day but Wisconsin did have videos posted but still that's no reason not to follow them over there. Wisconsin did post this after the game. Don't forget to follow Oregon and Wisconsin over on Instagram: @oregonvb and @badgervb


Wisconsin did have this posted by their school's Instagram page since they made it to the semifinals that were held in Tampa, Florida.

    As previously mentioned, Wisconsin won and moved on to the semifinals taking place in Tampa, Florida. They will play against Texas to see who can make it to the finals and become the National Champions so stay tuned for that blog coming out shortly. Until next time, Miller out
