Nebraska vs Texas 12-17-2023 WVB National Championships

Welcome back to the final blog of the 2023 NCAA Women's Volleyball season as it's now time to cover the National Championship game. This game took place on December 17th at 2pm CT in Tampa, Florida's Amalie Arena. Going into the game, Texas had a season record of 27-4 while Nebraska's record was 33-1, with its only loss coming from Wisconsin. Will Nebraska end the season at 34-1 or will Texas hand Nebraska their second loss of the season? Let's find out what happened.
Let's cover the game leaders so let's start with Kills. The leader in Kills goes to Texas' Madisen Skinner, with 16, followed by her teammate, Jenna Wenaas, with 9. Nebraska was led by Harper Murray, with 7, and Andi Jackson, with 4. The leader in Aces goes to Texas' Asjia O'Neal, with 5, while her teammates Ella Swindle, Keonilei Akana, and Madisen Skinner, all had 2 aces each. Harper Murray had 2 aces for Nebraska as well as the only athlete on her team to get any aces. The leader in blocks is a tie between Texas' Jenna Wenaas and Bella Bergmark as well as Nebraska's Bekka Allick, each with 4 blocks. The leader in Assists goes to Texas' Ella Swindle, with 21, while Nebraska's Bergen Reilly wasn't too far behind with 17 of her own. The leader in Digs was Texas being led by Emma Halter, with 9, Ella Swindle, with 7, and Madisen Skinner, with 5. Nebraska was led by Bergen Reilly and Lexi Rodriguez, each with 6, as well as Harper Murray and Laney Choboy, each with 5.
Now it's time to see how the National Championship went for Nebraska and Texas. The first set ended at 25-22 in favor of Texas and was also the closest set of the game. The second set ended at 25-14, in favor of Texas yet again. Nebraska got serious for the third set and tried to take Texas down in that third set but fell short as Texas won 25-11 and also won the game as well as the National Championship by beating Nebraska 3 sets to none and also handing Nebraska their second loss of the season. Nebraska would end the season 33-2 while Texas would end the season 28-4. In the end, Texas would lead in points, 58-29.5, kills, 38-20, aces, 12-2, blocks, 8-7, assists 34-18, and digs 35-30.
