2025 NCAA Division 1 BVB Conference Championships
Dear Readers~
With the regular season over with, it's time to cover the Conference Championships. There are 8 different conferences when it comes to NCAA Division 1 Beach Volleyball that I will be talking about today. They include Atlantic Sun (ASUN), the Big West, Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA), Conference USA (CUSA), Ohio Valley Conference, Pac-12, Southland Conference, and the West Coast Conference. In this blog, I will be covering a few different games so let's see how the conference championships go as the schools prepare to make it to Orange Beach, Alabama for the National Championships and the 16 available spots up for grabs.
We will start off with the various teams I've covered over the course of this 2025 season and how they ended their regular season. The first teams I covered this season were USC (24-8) and UCLA (29-4) followed by Arizona State (20-12), GCU (22-10), Florida State (23-10), TCU (25-5), Texas (24-9), LMU (32-6), Stanford (28-8), and Cal Poly (26-6). A few of these got covered multiple times this spring. Those making up the Pac-12 include USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Arizona State. The Big West only includes Cal Poly. CCSA includes Florida State, Texas, and GCU. Conference USA only includes TCU. The West Coast only includes LMU. All of these teams were ranked in the top 10 at least once (some the whole season) with the exception of GCU, who only got to #13 at its highest during the season.
In the first blog I did covering the 2025 season, I talked about how the host wasn't supposed to be the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB) hosting it in Gulf Shores. The original host was supposed to be Long Beach State hosting it in Huntington Beach, California but in early January the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area caused the NCAA to change their mind and choose the place that has held it every year since 2016 and is scheduled to host it every year until 2031 as of now. Now let's get into the conference championships to see which teams move on to the national championships hosted in Orange Beach, Alabama.
We will start off with the Atlantic SUN (ASUN). This conference includes Stetson, Austin Peay, Jacksonville, North Alabama, North Florida, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky (EKU), and Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU). These conference championships were held in Huntsville, Alabama on April 24th and 25th hosted by the Huntsville Sports Commission (HSC). The winner from this conference was North Florida beating Stetson 3-0 in the finals and moving on to the National Finals.
Next we will look into the Big West. In my previous blog, I mentioned how Cal Poly is the only school I've talked about that's part of the Big West. Other schools along with Cal Poly that's part of this conference include California State Northridge (CSUN), California State Bakersfield (Bakersfield), Hawaii, University of California Davis, Long Beach State and Sacramento State. The Big West had their championships at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, California on April 24th and 25th. The winner from this conference was Long Beach State who beat Cal Poly 3-1 and moved on to the national finals.
Next we will look into CCSA. This conference includes LSU, Texas, Florida State, and South Carolina and was held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at LSU's beach volleyball stadium on April 25th and 26th. The winner from this conference goes to Texas who beat Florida State 3-0 to move on to the national finals.
Next we will look into Conference USA (CUSA). This conference includes Florida International University (FIU), Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston, Western Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Liberty University, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, and University of Texas El Paso. The championships were held at Sugar Beach in Youngsville, Louisiana from April 24th-26th. The winner of this conference is Florida Atlantic beating Tulane 3-1 and moving on to the national finals.
Next we will look into the Ohio Valley Conference. The conference includes Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, University of Tennessee Martin (UTM), and University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC). UTC was the host for this championship that took place from April 24th-26th and this was the program's first time hosting the championships with the program only being 5 years old. The winner was UTC beating UT Martin 3-2 and moving on to the national finals.
Next we will look into the Pac-12. So technically Pac-12 is no longer a conference due to its disillusion but that's what many people, like me, know it as. This change happened because many of the top Pac-12 schools/programs joined the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) during the 2024-2025 school year, and some even earlier. With it being technically called the MPSF, many still call it Pac-12, like myself. This conference includes many schools I've covered this season like GCU, USC, Stanford, and UCLA along with schools I haven't talked about like University of California Berkeley (Berkeley for short), Oregon, and Washington. This conference championship was held on Spiker Beach in Huntington Beach, California from April 23rd-25th. The winner was Stanford beating the 4 time in a row national champion, USC, 3-2 and moving on to the national finals.
Next, we will look into the Southland Conference. This conference includes Boise State, Houston Christian, McNeese, New Orleans, Nicholls, San Jose State, Stephen F Austin (SFA), Southeastern, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The conference championships were held in New Orleans, Louisiana from April 23rd-25th. The winner from this conference was Boise State who beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi 3-0 and moved on to the national finals.
The last conference we will look into will be the West Coast Conference. The only school in this conference that I've covered this season is Loyola Marymount University (LMU) while other schools in the conference include Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, and Santa Clara. This conference championship was held at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, California from April 24th-25th. The winner from this conference is LMU who beat Santa Clara 3-0 and moved on to the national finals.
Now that we know who 8 of the 16 teams competing in the national championships are, how do we know who the other 8 will be? That's where the NCAA selection show comes in. Stay tuned for next week when I cover the selection show and the bracket for the national championships. Don't forget to tune in from Friday May 2nd to Sunday May 4th to see who becomes the 2025 NCAA Division 1 Beach Volleyball Champions. Who do you think will win? Tune in this weekend to find out and until next time, Miller out
