Arizona @ #8 Arizona State 11-13-2025 WVB
Dear Readers~
Welcome to the latest game of the 2025 NCAA Women's Indoor Volleyball season. Today's game brings us back to the Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona as Arizona State hosts Arizona on Thursday, November 13th as #8 Arizona State hosts an unranked Arizona. Going into the game, Arizona sits at 14-9 while Arizona State sits at 22-3, with an at home record of 11-0. There's only one other team that's undefeated at home, the #1 team of Nebraska (who's undefeated for the whole season). For those who have read the Utah @ Arizona State game I covered a few weeks earlier, Tempe is in the Phoenix metro while Arizona (the school) is located in Tucson. With a top 10 team hosting an unranked team, the pressure is on for Arizona State to keep their perfect at home record. Will they do it? Let's get into today's game to find out.
For those who have seen my coverage of the NCAA beach games back in the spring and my previous indoor games this fall, I explained the difference between the beach and indoor games but for those who haven't let's go over them again for those who are new. For those who don't know, the way indoor works is you have to win 3 sets, whether it be all 3, or 3 of the 4/5 sets that are played, meanwhile in the beach game you have win 2 of the 2 or 3 sets that are played. As for the scoring, for the beach, it's played first to 21 while indoor is played first to 25 and both require a lead of two points or more for the set to conclude. If a fifth set is needed (for indoor or a third set for the beach), the teams play first to 15 instead of 25 but the lead of two points or more is still enforced for both games. Unlike the beach game, in indoor you can switch players in and out (the NCAA only gives you 15 per set so you have to use them wisely with 6 players on the court), like in basketball for example, but with beach you can't switch them out and you only get one timeout for each set per team as to where NCAA indoor gets two timeouts per set for each team since they generally play longer sets. Enough about the beach game, let's get into this indoor game from one of America's largest metro regions.
The first set ended at 25-11 in favor of Arizona State and was a rough start for Arizona. The second set ended at 25-20 and was much closer with Arizona making a comeback and making it 1-1 for each team. The third set ended at 25-18 with Arizona State winning that set and giving them the 2-1 lead over Arizona. The fourth set ended at 25-22 in favor of Arizona State and ending the game in favor of Arizona State at 3-1.
Now let's see who some of the top players of each team were. We will look at stats that include kills, aces, blocks, assists, and digs. The leader in kills goes to Arizona's Jordan Wilson, with 17, while Arizona State's Noemie Glover wasn't far behind with 13 of her own. The leader in aces goes to Arizona's Jordan Wilson again, with 4, followed by teammates Avery Scoggins, with 2, and Adrianna Bridges, with 1. The leaders for Arizona State include Jillian Neal, Bailey Miller, and Sydney Henry, each with 1 ace. The leader in blocks goes to Arizona State's Colby Neal, with 9, followed by teammates Kiylah Presley and Ella Lomigora, each with 6. The leaders for Arizona include Adrianna Bridges, with 5, Britt Carlson, with 3, and Jordan Wilson, with 2. The leader in assists goes to Arizona's Avery scoggins, with 38, while Arizona State's Sydney Henry and Brynn Covell came in next with 24 and 13 respectively. The leader in digs goes to Arizona's Brenna Ginder and Arizona State's Bailey Miller, each with 12, while Arizona State's Tatum Parrot came in not far behind with 11. The athletes that showed up the most for each team include Jordan Wilson for Arizona and Bailey Miller for Arizona State. Wilson showed up in four of the five mentioned stats and earned the previously mentioned 17 kills and 4 aces along with 2 blocks and 9 digs. Miller showed up in three of the five mentioned stats with the previously mentioned 12 digs and 1 ace along with 10 kills.
With this game concluded, the next game Arizona State has will be them hosting West Virginia on Saturday, November 29th at 11AM Mountain Time while Arizona's last regular season game was Friday, November 28th at 3pm Mountain Time as they hosted Cincinnati at the McKale Center in Tucson.
This concludes #8 Arizona State hosting unranked Arizona in Tempe. With it being this late in the season, do you think they'll play each other again or will we have to wait for the 2026 season to see if Arizona can redeem themselves? Stay tuned for the next game as #17 Indiana hosts #1 Nebraska in Bloomington to see who becomes the Big Ten (B1G) Champs for 2025. With the 2025 seson slowly coming to a close, who do you think will come out on top and win the national championship in Kansas City? Do you think it will be #1 Nebraska, #2 Kentucky, #8 Arizona State, #13 Kansas, or #17 USC? Do you think one of these will walk away National Champions or will a different team take it this year? Stay tuned to find out and until next time, Miller out
