#1 Nebraska @ #17 Indiana 11-22-2025 WVB
Dear Readers~
This week's game of the 2025 NCAA Women's Indoor Volleyball season brings us to Bloomington, Indiana as #17 Indiana hosts #1 Nebraska at the Wilkinson Hall there in Bloomington on Saturday, November 22nd. This game was the Big 10 Championship game, and the winner would automatically move on to the national championship bracket and make it in the tournament that would take place at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri for the finals. Going into the game, Nebraska is 27-0 after defeating Iowa a few days prior at home in Lincoln and remains the only undefeated team in the nation after Texas lost to Texas A&M in College Station on Halloween Night. As for Indiana, their record is 22-5 after defeating Rutgers 3-0 a few days prior at home in Bloomington.
For those who haven't seen my coverage of some of the earlier games in the season, NCAA indoor games are played anywhere from 3 to 5 sets. If you win 3 sets, you've won the game but if you lose 3 sets, you've lost the game. The game can last anywhere from 3 to 5 sets, depending on how soon a team wins 3 sets. The first four sets are played first to 25 (which happens very often unless you're Nebraska or Kentucky for example) while the fifth set (if needed) is played first to 15. The thing is each set requires a lead of 2 points or more for the set to conclude. Back in 2018 during a game between Oregon and Minnesota, a set ended at 41-39 (meaning 80 points were scored in a single set) and shows just how important that two-point lead can be. With most sets playing to 25, each team is given two time outs for each set, similar to basketball. Just like in basketball, the NCAA lets players switch out up to 15 times each set but with 6 players on the court for each team, the changes need to be smart and strategic. with our explanation over, let's get into today's game from Indiana as we see if Indiana can be the first team to defeat Nebraska this 2025 season or if Nebraska can continue to prove to everyone why they're ranked #1 in the nation and have been all season long.
The first set ended at 25-19, in favor of Nebraska and giving them a 1-0 lead over Indiana. The second set had the biggest gap as it ended at 25-16, also in favor of Nebraska and giving them a 2-0 lead over Indiana. The third set ended the closest at 25-22 in favor of Nebraska. This gives Nebraska the 3-0 win they needed to become the Big 10 champions and automatically move on to the national championships in Kansas City. If you've seen my earlier coverage of the Nebraska @ Wisconsin game, I talked about Nebraska hadn't lost a set since they played Creighton back on September 16th. Well since that game, Nebraska was doing well at defeating all of their opponents 3-0 (like this game) until November 14th when they went to Los Angeles, California and played UCLA at Pauley Pavillion. This game, UCLA won one set against Nebraska (Nebraska still won the game 3-1 in the end) and ended Nebraska's 15 game, 45 continuous sets, win streak. This win against Indiana has now given Nebraska their third game they've won 3-0 (that's 9 straight sets) as the team slowly works their way back to the streak they had. Will it continue as they work their way to Kansas City? Only time will tell.
Now that we've covered the game (and what streak recently ended), let's see who some of the top athletes from each team are. The five stats we'll be looking at include kills, aces, blocks, assists, and digs. The leader in kills goes to Nebraska's Harper Murray, with 11, as Indiana's Candela Alonso-Corcelles isn't far behind, with 10, and Nebraska's Viginia Adriano and Andi Jackson are next, with 9 each. The leader in aces goes to Indiana's Teodora Krickovic, with 2, while her teammates Jessica Smith and Jaidyn Jager, along with Nebraska's Teraya Sigler, Virginia Adriano, Andi Jackson, and Lainey Choboy all have one ace each. The leader in blocks goes to Nebraska's Virginia Adriano, with 6, as Nebraska's Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick each have 4 blocks of their own meanwhile the only block for Indiana goes to Madi Sell. The leader in Assists goes to Bergen Reilly, with 33, while Teodora Krickovic leads Indiana with 25 of her own. The leader in digs goes to Nebraska's Bergen Reilly again, this time with 9, as Indiana is led by Teodora Krickovic again, this time with 8. Out of the 5 stats we've looked at, let's see which athlete has shown up the most. Nebraska is led by Virginia Adriano and Andi Jackson, who each show up in 3 of the same 5 stats mentioned above, while Indiana is led by Jaidyn Jager who shows up in 3 of the 5 stats as well. Adriano is an Opposite Hitter who ended the game with 9 kills, 1 ace, and 6 blocks. Jackson is a Middle Blocker who ended the game with 9 kills, 1 ace, and 4 blocks. Jager is an outside Hitter who ended the game with 7 kills, 1 ace, and 4 digs.
With this game concluded, Nebraska's next game will be against Long Island University (LIU) in the first round of the national tournament while Indiana recently beat Toledo in their first-round game, while their second-round game will be against Colorado.
